I am very excited to assume the position of President of PCVIS. It is an honor to work with such a diverse group of medical professionals, educational providers, and parents who donate their time to the betterment of resources and services for those with CVI. We have come a very long way in the last 8 years laying the foundation for PCVIS, developing a website, and disseminating information. Now that we have laid the groundwork, I look forward to working with the Society to help implement our business plan and address some of the unmet needs in the CVI community today.
The heart of the PCVIS are our members and Board. We value and appreciate the countless hours volunteered toward this effort. We have been placed in an excellent position by previous leaders and board members. This allows us to give back even more to the CVI community and to those hard-working volunteers who have gotten to us where we are today.
As a parent of a 12-year-old boy with CVI, Griffen, the husband of a PT and Orientation & Mobility Specialist, Alisha (who serves children with CVI), and as an active member of PCVIS, I can truly see the difference this ever-growing society has made for children with CVI. PCVIS is a haven for multidisciplinary thought and development, striving not only to educate, but provide a platform for unbiased development and dissemination of information.
I am a big fan of setting high goals and truly believe in the power of coming together as a CVI community—families, educators, providers, and medical professionals—to ensure children with CVI live to be their best selves. We can do great things. There will be times when we fall short, but the only real shortcoming is not setting the bar high enough.
We look forward to working with and giving back to the existing PCVIS members, and meeting all the new members along the way.
