Transforming
Outcomes for Children and Youth with CVI

Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is the leading cause of childhood visual impairment—yet many remain undiagnosed and underserved. That’s why at PCVIS, we believe every family deserves the support they need to succeed. Together, we can raise awareness, advance research, and work toward a future where children with CVI can reach their full potential.

What is CVI?

Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) is not caused by problems with the eyes, but by damage to the brain. The eyes can see, but the brain has difficulty interpreting the visual world. The visual world for a child with CVI can move too quickly, change without warning, and feel unreliable like a shifting kaleidoscope. Characteristics may manifest differently in each child, but with the right interventions, functional vision can improve.
